Who we are
IAFF Local 2598 represents roughly 800 members of the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue. We handle contract negotiations, working conditions, safety and staffing, and we advocate for this department at the county level and in Richmond. When you are hired here, you are joining a department and a union that has your back.
The schedule
A 24/48-24/96 rotation with approximately 18 additional scheduled shifts a year. That works out to approximately 110 twenty-four-hour shifts, roughly nine work days a month. Exact counts vary year to year.
Starting salary is $62,187.36, with full pay and benefits from day one of recruit school.
This schedule takes effect July 1, 2027.
